Safety toe overview

Danner offers three options in safety toe caps: steel, alloy, and non-metallic (NMT) toe caps.

All three varieties offer the same safety performance in that they have all passed the testing standard called ASTM F2413-05 M I/75 C/75 EH. The EH at the end of the standard stands for electrical hazard. All of our safety toe styles are manufactured with non-conductive, electrical-shock-resistant soles and heels.

The varieties:

  • Steel toe caps are the original, tried and true option.
  • An alloy toe is one made from a variety of elements which are primarily Silicon, Iron, Copper, Manganese, Magnesium, Chromium, Zinc and Titanium. It is lighter than steel.
  • NMT (non-metallic toe). NMT boots, also called composite toe boots, don't conduct heat or cold to the foot. These will also pass through a metal detector. But keep in mind that you might have a steel shank in your boot, which would not.
