Boots that are built with a GORE-TEX® or Danner Dry liner are already 100% waterproof, but there are still some measures you can take to ensure the liner is protected and leather is maintained. If you have a boot that's waterproof-lined, and are experiencing wet feet, please reach-out so we can see if you're eligible for warranty.
All of our leathers are pre-treated and ready to go right out of the box with water-resistant properties. As you start to wear them and they are in-and-out of water, the protective coating in the tanning process can wear off, the leather will absorb water quicker and treating the boots with a water-resistant product is advised. To maintain the breathability of the waterproof liner, we recommend using a water or silicone-based treatment (products that list water or silicone as the first or second ingredient).
After the boots have been cleaned, conditioned and are dry, apply our waterproof gel (for smooth-out leather) or spray (for rough-out, nubuck or suede) per the directions on the bottle. You can repeat the treatment monthly or before you plan on going out in more inclement weather.
